Nagato is the first ship of Nagato class battleships. She is built with a high 6-legged maintop, and is the beginning of high tops of IJN battleships. Nagato is one of the Big Seven. After the breakout of WWII, Pacific front is more and more dominated by carriers. Nagato did not have the chance to go on frontlines until the Battle of Leyte Gulf in 1944.The Kurita fleet that she belonged in captured US carrier's escorting fleet, but did not do much against USN's fightback. Nagato then returned to Japan, and waited there until Japan's surrender. Nagato was later used for target ships in Operation Crossroads, and sank July 1946.
