Renown

Renown is a battlecruiser based on HMS Renown (1916).

Introduction

E-Navy Renown was the lead ship of her class of battlecruisers. Renown-class battlecruisers were designed to meet the requirements of high speed, thus led to lack of armour protection. The ship was refitted in the 30s, which increased her armour protection. Renown undertook thorough reconstruction before the war, with a new bridge and reinforced anti-aircraft capability. Renown was involved in the Norwegian Campaign, and when gained the upper hand she beat two Scharnhorst-class ships on her own. In 1941 she was involved in the sinking of the G-Country battleship Bismarck. She was the deputy fleet flagship for a long period, and she also survived the war, making her the only surviving battlecruiser out of three in E-Navy.

Trivia

• Although not very rare, she is among the luckiest ships, which makes her difficult to receive critical damage.
• After remodeling, the maximum firepower is 93, same as Hood. Maximum anti-air is 97, which is 3 points lower than Alaska only.
• Her construction time is the same as Andrea Doria.
• In a sea battle near Lofoten Islands on April 9th, 1940, Renown and her escorts (nine destroyers) engaged two German battlecruisers, SCHARNHORST and GNEISENAU. Due to fierce storm and poor visibility at that time, Renown was mistakenly identified as a Nelson-class battleship by Germans. After a crossfire for near an hour, the German ships turned away and flee. Renown chased them for more than one and a half hours until her damaged torpedo compartment forbid her to continue the chase. During this battle, her speed reached 29 knots in bad weather for a while, and the two German battlecruisers believed they were chased by a Nelson-class battleship even after the battle, earning her a nickname "29-knot-Nelson".(Those German soilders are going to need a pair of glasses lol)
• According to the data released at 2015 July 18, Renown is the third most commonly married ship in game(84195 out of 572111), first being Lex and second being Rodney.
• As part of the 2nd Anniversary update Renown received new animations.
