South Dakota is an battleship based on USS South Dakota(BB-57).
As one of the most efficient battleships to be built under the limitations of the Washington Naval Treaty, the USS South Dakota served in the Pacific Theater twice in 1942 and in late 1943. She also briefly served in Europe, patrolling the coast of Norway. During the battle of Guadalcanal, the ship suffered extensive damage from 26 hits after an error at the engine room that rendered the ship powerless. Fortunately, she was able to rendezvous with USS Washington. By the end of the war, her performance earned her 13 battle stars. She was later sold as scrap on 1962. A part of the ship can still be seen at Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Named after the American state of South Dakota.
